This is my magzine work including the front cover, contents and spread.

This is my final masthead design, the colours used make it a little diffrent from other designs and make it stand out from the page. It needs to be a key feature of the magazine as it gives it the feel it needs. This may be what the audience make a assumption on. Also the glow it has gives that extra bit of "flash" when on the page.

This image is great as it links to music. This would fit in well with a double page spread as the darkness towards the bottom of the image will bring the two pages together as one. Also the use of the dark areas of the image. This will bring great space for information to be written. This would make a great double page spread.

I am not concentrating on the whole of this image, I am just looking at the design on the image. I feel that this design will fit in well with my magazine as it has the same theme as the design. I will need to change the colours to suit my magazine. This will be great for the front cover. It may also be great for use in a double page spread. This design would bring two pages together as one. This is the aim when designing a spread. Make the two pages seem like one big A3 design. If i can achieve this with the spread then i only need an image to suit the story.

This image is a clever idea the way the design is made to look like it is the sound coming for the music equipment. The design is great for other magazines, however I would need to edit this to link in with my magazine. This would be great for an image for a front cover as it could be used to entice the audience in from the colours. I feel I could edit the design so that a music artist fits in, this would entice people in even more as they may want to know how they link to the story, but also find the design unusual.

This image will be useful for use in my masthaed or front cover. The purpose for this is that it is quite small so that it can fit within the smaller areas of the magazine. When it is smaller it can still be seen clearly. I could edit the look of this image to suit my magazine and fit in with the design. I feel this may give me ideas for my magzine design such as the front cover, the masthead and even the headline. This would entice the audince as the bright colours and unusual look towards music is a lot different from what may usually be shown or seen on music magzines.

This image would be great for a double page spread as the use of colour would make the two pages become one. I will take this in mind, however i would change some of the features so that it sooots my theme of music that my magazine may be on. I also feel that the use of colour in this image is great, but it is not to the theme of my magazine so i would change the colour so that it suits my magazine.

This font used is brilliant as it is different from what we usually see. This would stand out on the front of a magazine. This may the part of the magazine that may catch the customers eye. This would get the customer enticed to the magazine. I feel that I could use this style in my masthead.

This image will be great for the image on the front cover, this could be edited so that the headline is within the image. This type of work will bring in many customers from the unusual design. They may want to know what the story is behind the image. This will bring in many of the magazines audience. I will keep this type of image in mind when taking my photo's. 

This is a great image for a magazine spread, the way the design goes from one end of the image to the other. This will easily make two pages become one, this is what a magazine needs so that the image does not split. Also there is plenty of space surrounding the design, this is where the information based around the spread will go. I think this type of design will really suit a magazine.

This shot of a music band is ideal as all faces are clearly on show which means it is perfect for the front of a magazine. Also the is space on the image for when

This masthead is great for when we look at how it has been constructed. To begin I can read what is in the masthead and understand the items surrounding this information. This is a clear masthead which is easily understood. Second of all the colours used, relate very much to a rock theme which is what I want to create. Overall this is a great masthead and   I will take this design in mind so I can create a design much like this. 

This masthead is great all over with great quality. To begin with this masthead can easily be read, it is very clear and I can see what information is provided with the image. Second of all I think the colours used are cleverly included. The feel of rock can be seen through the use of colour. The guitar stands out from the background to give the effect of a rock gig. Finally, I think the images used in the masthead are very clever, I can understand that it attempts to look like a rock gig. I will take the idea with me when designing my masthead. 

This is a font that is great font that will really look good on a magazine. This font will stand out and jump from the page. The use of colours is good, however, I feel that better use of colours is needed. If a better use of colours is done then the masthead will stand out a lot more. I also feel that this would bring the possibility of the masthead working well on any background.

This is a great shot of a band as all the faces are shown and we can easily understand what is going on in the image. I feel that this image is different from what we usually see from magazine images. However, i feel that the darkeness of the image is to much. The image is too dark and my not stand out, more light needs to be used to make sure the image stands out. The way the image has been taken means that it will be great for a front cover, i would feel that this is great for a double page spread as the two page will easily be brought together so that it looks like one page.

This image is quite good as we can easily understand what is going on in the image. What i like about the image is the emotion shown, I get a feel from the image that will attract me to the magazine. I would want to find out why this image has been taken, why the woman in the image is shown. This is where a magazine will entice its customers into buying the magazine. However, i do not feel this image stands out enough, the image is good, but it does not stand out, this is where i would do something different with the image. This is where it will make a magazine to stand out even more from its competitors.

This is a classic image that may appear on the front of a music magazine, possibly a rock music magazine. I feel that i could use this type of image in my music magazine. I feel this image needs to have more space for infornation to be addedd without covering the faces of the characters. This would be a waste of time if the audience did not know who is in the image. 

This image is a good image for the front cover, it is clear and easy to understand what is going on in the image.The characters in the image are in a band, the lead singer and the guitarist are shown. However, it does not stand out like the two images reviewed before. I would maybe make the characters in the image stand out more by bluring out the background. I will take the type of shot on board, but when i look at the image i shall edit it so that it is unusual to make it stand out. This is a great medium shot/long shot as part of the background can be seen and the full length of the characters in the image's body.

This is an image which is very unusual which is what will make it great for a magazine. The use of the red in a image is great and will mean that the audiennce will be enticed in for a closer look at the image. I will take this on board when deciding what image to use.

This is an image which is very simple

This is a great shot as the image seems like there is a shining light linked from his music. The image expresses rock music well and is an idea i will take into consideration when using an image on my magazine. I think this will stand out on the page.

These images were chosen because they suited the audience more, i asked them to choose from a huge selection of photo's and decide whih seven they prefered.

1. The image on the left was chosen as the character in the image has a happy smile creating the effect of welcoming the audience into the magazine.

2. The next image on the left was chosen as it gives the feel of the image being interesting. Also, this will show that the school is very artistic and well presented. As my magazine is based around art, graphics, etc these suit the magazine well.





3. The image to your left is well suited to the genre of art, this is what will give the magazine an interesting feel. And will also show how the school arenot afraid to express their feelings through art.






4. The image on your left is an image which gives a great effect, this makes it seem like your future is not far away.This is what the students will need for enthusiasm. They will also find getting the perfect life is only sometimes requires a little effort.





5. The next image on the left is a shot that as you can see is angled. I feel that this will show the students and others who may read this magazine will see that unusual things are good,  and that its not wrong to experiment.





6. The image on the left is the image that is represented in the front cover of the magazine. This is wha was used to give a great effect with the headline.

7. The image on the left is a sensible image that will show the audience that all students have a great time. MOCK-UP 1:

This shows the mock-up of my contents page, this only includes the basic layout and images that i will be useing for my contents.

MOCK-UP 2:

This is showing the masthead of the page and information needed in a contents page. As you can see the attempt to put orange on top of an orange does not work well.

MOCK-UP 3:

This image shows how the information is smaller and condensed. I have attempted to make the information a little clear and not so much in the face of the customer.

This shows the final work with all changes m,ade. This is also classed as the final piece.

MOCK-UP 1:

This is the first mock-up that i did, this shows you the basic starting point for my magazine. I have added the background and parts of a border at the top and bottom . The use of the orange is a colour that i consider warm and welcoming which will attract customeres and give of great first impressions for the welcoming of the audience.

MOCK-UP 2:
Shown on the left of the screen is my second mock-up that i completed. As shown the information on the magazine is starting to be addes and build up. I have included the red masthead which stands out from the background and any images. The top section of the border has the school logo and information based on an up and coming quiz. I chose to put the information based on the quiz because this is common to many schools and is great for family evenings out. Also the main head is made to catch the audiences eye with the use of the red to drag the customers eyes in and then the orange again to keep the feel of welcomeness and warmth.

MOCK-UP 3:

As shown the third mock-up consists of the image which is used cleverly with the headline. The fact that this m agazine used some humor or even cleverness. Also the section of the border towards the bottom of the page consists of information about what else is inside the magazine. This will help to entice the audience in even more .

MOCK-UP 4:

This final image shows the final mock-up and even the final work for the magazine. All changes have been made and even two more images are added, these images are to show how the school is a happy place and entice customers to read on with the magazine.

When we look at this image it stands out even though it is a dark image. This is because the dark shape of the singer and the crowd on the quite dark sky creates an image that is different. This will be great when wanting to merge a double page spread together. The night sky can be used to fit information that may be needed to be added to the page. This is how a double page spread can be merged from just taking a medium shot of a singer while in front of a crowd. I think that also the use of the crowd at the bottom of the page will be good for any quotes or additional information that could be added to the page.

LAYOUT: The layout of this magazine is well suited to what it wants to do. The face of the character in the image can be seen. The masthead and headline are both clear. And even the sub stories can be seen as a different part of the page which is what they want as the magzine looks exciting from the different stories.
FONT/COLOUR: The magazine provides simple but effective use of colour which will attract its customers. The colours are bright and clearly stand out from the dark image. Also the good use of clear and easy to text is great to make the headlines stand and to attract the customers and make them want the magazine.
INFORMATION: The information that this front cover provides is great for amking the magzine more interesting rather than having the ame type of stories over and over again. The headline will always be read as this is what attracts customers to buy the magazine. But the sub stories attract customers as well due to them giving the customer something different from the headline.

LAYOUT: This magazine front cover is cleverly laid out in the way that it is. The faces of the characters are not covered so they can be clearly seen. The headline is clear and stands out from the which is what we want. However i would have used different colours to make it unusual. The sub stories are cleverly fitted to the bottom of the page so that the do not cover the page, but also so that they can be seen clear from everything else on the page.                                        FONT/COLOUR: The font and clour used on this front over is well used, their is only a couple of colours to keep it simple and easy to read. Also the way the colours are used are clever, but i would have used different colours for the headline. This is not bad for the magazine, it is just my taste for the use of colours. The font used throughout is easy to read and consistant, there customers do not want to have to read a magazine in a font which is difficult to read. Threy will just not buy the magazine all together. 

INFORMATION: The information the magazine provided for its audience is very enticing. The headline and masthed can only be read whic is what they want. The headline entices the customer and the sub stories do the rest by making the magazine exciting and giving the customer a thrill.                     

 

                  

To begin with this image is great in the way it is taken as it is a low angled medium shot as the camera is looking up the people in the shot. This would be great as this could be used to merge a double page spread and some information could be placed in the white area  of the image which will not cover any of the key parts of the image. I will take this shot on board and could use this type of shot and maybe use the same effect in a double page spread. The way the whit is used makes the image stand out and jump out towards the customer. This will also give the effect of actually being right there in the action by the stage.

LAYOUT: The layout of this double page spread is very affective. The image brings the two pages together as one which is what is needed. The information is cleverly placed on the page so that any key parts of the image are not covered and can be read easily.
FONT/COLOR: The font and colour can be easily read as their is no complicated use of font. Furthermore, the use of colour is cleverly done and stands out slighly from the page. I may have used a diiferent coour which stands out even more. Also, the whit section in the bottom right of the page is a bit too much for me and i would have not put anything behind the information. A differewnt colour would have been used, including different placement on the page.

INFORMATION: Information on this page page is not too detailed and just enough. This is a perfect mix for the magazine to keep the customer interested. Also, the information cannot be read which is the key to a perfect magazine. If the information can be read, then customers will not need to buy the magazine and read from a distance.

WHAT I LIKE?
This magazine's design has hardly any faults, the way the headline stands out straight away to me will help the magazine sell. The image on this magzine is not covering a part of the image, however, the effect on the image means that it stands out any way. The sub story image is used well.

WHAT I LIKE?
This magazine has a great effect by the way the sub stories are shown. The rip effect on the image for the main story, this gives the magazine a more of a real look effect. This will attract more of their audience. Also, the way the images for the sub stories are made look as real as possible, i shall atempt to recreat this effect in my magazine.
WHAT I DISLIKE?
I do not like the way the whit is used for the text, i would have used more of a colour which stands out to the customer. The white workd well with the black background, however in front of the image used for the main story, it does not draw me into the magazine. Also i do not like the way the title is in fron of the image, i will put a part of the image in front of the masthead, this will help the image stand out even more.
